"In the street of the sky night walks scattering poems..."
After a long drive from Manila, a sumptuous dinner and a few drinks at Hotel Luna's El Comedor, it was time to take a stroll along historic Calle Crisologo and see the famed cobblestones and centuries-old structures in a different light. And as E. E. Cummings put it, the perfect time for a glimpse of "scattering poems..."
It was great to be back at at Vigan, to Hotel Luna, and the historic Calle Crisologo. Since my first ever visit late last year (see my previous post on that first visit and its lasting impressions here at http://soloexpeditions.blogspot.com/2014/08/a-walk-back-in-time-at-calle-crisologo.html), I've always wanted to go back, and go back in time once more along Calle Crisologo.
The uncharacteristic stillness at Calle Crisologo allows one to take a closer, more intimate look at the details of the weathered structures, presenting a whole new facet of the historic street. The warm glow of the street lamps drape the entire street in an amber glow, adding to the midnight walk's eerily strange yet comforting vibe.
The cobblestone street appear polished in the night lights, trodden for centuries to an almost perfect smoothness. From horse-drawn calesas to boots marching off to war, from the tiny footsteps of countless generations of children who have made this their playground, and the dignified walks of nationalists who shaped the country. The street has countless stories to tell, and still more stories to share.
And just like my first ever visit to Calle Crisologo, my second trip still sends the same intense emotions as the first.
One last look, and it was time head back to Hotel Luna just around the corner. Tomorrow is another day, with more sights to discover and rediscover...
