A Room With A View at Misibis Bay's New Pacific View Wing

When you wake up to spectacular sea views every morning throughout your stay, you just know you've found your very own spot of paradise...

The new Pacific View Wing at Misibis Bay guarantees stunning vistas of the blue Pacific without even leaving your room. With so many things to savor, experience and discover at the Bicol Region's premier tropical island getaway, staying at the new Pacific View Wing is definitely one of the many highlights for a memorable stay at Misibis Bay.

A short fifty-minute flight from Manila followed by a half-hour van ride from Legazpi City Airport takes you to one of Bicol's luxurious destinations. The elegant and sprawling 5-hectare property takes the tropical island vibe to a whole new level of privacy and exclusivity with its sleek and modern designs blending with the lush and natural surroundings. Managed by Enderun Hospitality Management, a hospitality management solutions provider geared toward local independent hotel and restaurant owners, guests at Misibis Bay are assured of impeccable service and memorable dining experiences from one of the country's fastest growing management groups. Enderun Hospitality Management currently has a client roster of twelve prestigious properties between Manila, Boracay, Bicol, Bohol, and Davao and Misibis Bay is just one of many brilliant gems in an ever-growing portfolio of properties. The winding road leading to the Front Office offers guests a preview of Misibis Bay's unique take on that perfect resort destination redefining the ultimate in tropical island getaways.

Inside the Front Office, the spacious and elegant open layout is complemented by its impressive high ceiling draping the interiors in natural light. Fresh flowers and splashes of vibrant blue colors provide a calming palette making you feel at home the minute you enter.

A quick check in at the Front Desk and your tropical island getaway at Misibis Bay is off to a great start. The resort's golf cart takes you to the new Pacific View Wing, located right at the edge facing the vast Pacific.

The pristine white facade of the modern Pacific View Wing with its panoramic glass sliding doors frame the ocean for picture perfect views, and the new wing is a welcome addition to the resort's existing Beach Front Villas, Pool View Villas, Garden View Villas and Garden View Rooms. Accommodations at the new Pacific View Wing include Standard Pacific View, Deluxe Pacific View and One Bedroom Premier Pacific View to suit any requirement or budget. Officially launched in August last year, the new Pacific View Wing is a massive 60-room complex, with each room offering breathtaking sea views.

Inside my Pacific View Room, the linear and streamlined design immediately draws you to the balcony for a sneak peek of the ocean. It's a spacious twin bed configuration right beside the views, with a large LCD TV in front so you can catch the latest news on cable. Think about it. When you're staying at a beach resort, waking up to beautiful sea views just seems right.

Soft, velvety smooth and plush linens, it's easy to be tempted to just dive in bed for a relaxing snooze. And why not, it's a vacation after all, right?

But the views are just too good to pass up...

Back inside, an elegant tub awaits to soothe your tired body. And here's the best part. You can enjoy the views of the ocean while soaking in the tub. Now how cool is that?

At Misibis Bay, pampering is all part of the experience with their line of toiletries...

...and premium bathroom fittings. Hot or cold, a gentle nudge is all it takes for a calming soak in the tub. Fast Wi-Fi access, coffee and tea-making facilities, and a mini-bar, everything is right here in your own Pacific View Room.

But there's just so much to do, explore and discover at Misibis Bay, and when walking out of your comfortable room with a spectacular view of the ocean doesn't feel right, think again...

A walk around the expansive property immerses you in the tropical island vibe with its cool sea breezes and numerous free-flowing pools ringed by idyllic palm trees.

The modern lines of the resort's various structures blend with the lush surroundings, there is that delicate sense of balance that exudes good vibes all around.

From the resort's Lagoon Pool at the center to the Infinity Pool facing the ocean, choosing where to have a calm dip is just one of many decisions to make while at Misibis Bay. Kids have their own pool located near the Pacific View Wing so everyone is guaranteed to have a great time at Misibis Bay.

Pick your pool, and enjoy. You can also opt for a hammock, just pick a tree and the staff will gladly set it up for you.

And if you need to get an extra tube of suntan lotion, or maybe that colorful Hawaiian shirt or fancy beach hat, no worries. At Misibis Bay, you can find all you need, and then some, at their very own Gift Shop.

But there's more to Misibis Bay than just the sights. At the resort, treat your palate to authentic Pagkaon Bicolnon prepared by Executive Chef Roel Legson at Spices Cafe (for more on Misibis Bay's culinary offerings, see my post on my other food blog, Misibis Bay: Enjoying The Sights, Views and Flavors at the Bicol Region's Premier Tropical Island Getaway). The Bicol Bento Box has all the iconic and familiar dishes of Bicolandia in one sumptuous platter, with creamy and spicy Bicol Express, flavorful Tilmok, savory Adobo sa Asin and comforting Cocido. Think of it as the flavors of Bicol in a creative bento box.

No culinary journey to Bicolandia is complete without some fiery local chili. Even in ice cream. Made with rich coconut milk and spicy chili, Spice Cafe's Chili Ice Cream is both decadent and bold with its upfront soothing heat. An experience in itself, it's just one of many culinary surprises at Misibis Bay.

Enjoying good food completes the multiple layers of any memorable travel experience, and Misibis Bay masterfully completes that layer with its wide array of dishes at Spice Cafe. And as the sun sets, a leisurely walk back to your Pacific View Room promises even more dramatic views of the Pacific with the slowly shifting light.

Early the next day, a nice morning walk brings you back to Spice Cafe for breakfast.

With a lavish buffet spread offering all the breakfast staples from Beef Tapa, Pork Tocino and crispy fried Salted Fish with eggs and garlic fried rice, to gourmet Cheeses, Charcuterie and Smoked Salmon with fresh baked bread and fresh fruits, salads and cereals, starting the day right at Misibis Bay is easy. Spice Cafe's Live Station also adds to the list of tasty options, with fluffy Omelets and Pancakes prepared a la minute and fresh off the hot griddle. Looking for comforting homestyle flavors? A bowl of Champorado, a local rice porridge with chocolate, should do the trick.

Later that day, a cruise aboard one of Misibis Bay's speedboats takes you out to the open seas for another adventure. The short trip leads you to an isolated island cove in a distant channel. Flanked by islands on both sides, the central channel is calm and serene in stark contrast to the choppy open waters beyond the cove.

At the private beach, Misibis Bay's culinary team fires up the grill for an epic feast. Misibis Bay takes beach picnics quite seriously, pulling out all the stops for a grand lunch by the beach.

And what a spread. Grilled tender Lamb Chops, Chicken Barbecue, Steak, Salmon, Squid, Prawns, and fat, succulent Crabs laid on steamed white rice with slices of fresh watermelon on the side, now that's a picnic. It's a classic Boodle Feast, complete with banana leaves. The lamb chops and steaks were perfectly grilled, remaining tender and juicy. Tearing off a piece by hand is easy, and using your hands adds to the dining experience. My hats off to the culinary team of Misibis Bay for creating an indulgent feast by the sea.

After a hearty lunch, laze around the beach with a refreshing coconut and enjoy the views. Better yet, why not take a dip in the calm waters of the cove? Misibis Bay can arrange cruises aboard their powerful speedboats including lunch on a private beach, simply ask the Guest Activities Coordinator or the Front Desk. The Guest Activities Coordinator can develop a curated and customized itinerary for you and your family or group to maximize your stay and fully enjoy all that Misibis Bay can offer. A sunset cruise with a grand view of the iconic Mount Mayon can also be arranged, weather permitting. And if you wish to see or do other things, all you have to do is ask the Guest Activities Coordinator. Meanwhile, an ice-cold bottle of beer seems just about right.

As the sun sets, the speedboat takes you back to Misibis Bay just in time for dinner. At a special spot beside Spices Cafe and Sitio, the resort's indoor activity center, a special table was set for the evening's dinner. Lining the path to our table were candles adding to that cool vibe. If you plan to make the big move and propose to your special someone, Misibis Bay can give you a hand too with a special set-up. Round after round of signature cocktails from Sula Bar were served for a refreshing pre-dinner tipple. Blue Hawaii or Frozen Margarita? Have both. You're on vacation.

It's easy to feel really special at Misibis Bay, and the staff makes sure you enjoy every moment in their tropical paradise.

That evening, Executive Chef Roel Legson served up more of their signature Pagkaon Bicolnon, from Crispy Pork Tinutungan, Baked Beef Caldereta and spicy Chili Crabs with noodles. Spice Cafe also offers continental a la carte dishes, but skipping on the local Bicolnon dishes is like a missed opportunity. When in Bicol, go ahead and experience the local flavors to complete your tropical island getaway. After dinner, why not head to the resort's The Essences Spa for their signature massage? You can also enjoy the indoor activities at Sitio, including Table Tennis, Billiards, Board Games or belt out your favorite tunes in the KTV Room. You can also hit the Gym at Sitio to keep your regular work-out regimen without skipping a beat in paradise.

Bright and early the next morning, the serene sea views kick-off your day with another spectacular start. Breakfast? Why leave a room like this? Why not order room service instead? And I have to tell you, enjoying a freshly brewed cup of coffee in my Pacific View Room, with its spectacular ocean front views, is just one for the books and definitely one of the highlights in an amazing tropical island getaway at Misibis Bay.

Soft, fluffy pancakes with Canadian bacon, maple syrup and blueberry compote on the side with a view of the ocean, just can't get better than that.

You've savored the sights and flavors of Misibis Bay, now it's time to check out the action at Misibis Bay's Beach Club. Misibis Bay offers a variety of motorized and non-motorized activities like Windsurfing, Kayaking, Stand-Up Paddle, Hobie Cat Sailing, Banana Boat Rides, Wake Boarding, Water Ski or zip around the calm waters of the enclosed beach with its protective breakwater or venture out into the open ocean aboard one of the resorts fast Jetskis. Guests can also Snorkel or Scuba Dive at the resort's Marina and meet the resident grouper. The resort offers Introductory Diving for beginners with licensed PADI Dive Instructors. If you're a licensed diver, you can head out to the different dive sites aboard the resort's speed boats, or go all the way to Ticao's famed Manta Bowl for a memorable dive. Beach Volleyball, Beach Football, and Frisbee? Misibis Bay's got that covered too.

If you're in a chill state of mind, sailing aboard the resort's Hobie Cat is the perfect option at Misibis Bay's Beach Club. The Hobie Cat can accommodate three to five including the skilled helmsman. Once the colorful sails catch the wind, you can speed out into the open waters away from the breakwater and feel the wind and surf. It's an experience that gets you in touch with nature, reaching unbelievable speeds powered by the wind.

Get your early morning workout with the resort's brightly colored Kayaks...

...but if you're after an adrenaline rush, press hard on the throttle and go flat out with the resort's sleek and fast Jetskis. The speed, the wind and spray on your face is a certifiable rush, and you just can't get enough of it so twist down hard on the throttle and let it loose. Other activities at the Beach Club include more serene activities perfect for groups and families like Tie Dye Shirt Making, Arts and Crafts, Painting by the Beach, Latte Art, Cocktail Mixing, Kite-Maiking and Sand Castle Making, simply inquire at the Front Desk for schedules.

Misibis Bay also offers exciting land activities as well, including an ATV Tour of the EcoPark or go all the way with a thrilling ATV Tour of the Hilltop at the spectacular 5 Views. The rugged, nimble yet powerful All-Terrain Vehicle with its four-wheel drive easily manages all the natural obstacles along the trail.

Along the trail at the EcoPark, stops at the Amphitheater offer breathtaking views of the island...

...with many more scenic stops along the way. But once the paved roads end, the fun really begins when you hit the dirt trails leading to the hill top. The steep inclines with massive rocks are no problem with the ATV, just activate the four-wheel drive for better traction and press hard on the gas with your right thumb for an unforgettable and exhilarating experience. Just let the powerful ATV do all the work and hold on.

Traversing through the steep trails is a liberating experience in itself, and you are rewarded with fantastic views at the Hill Top. On clear days, you can even catch a glimpse of the famous Mount Mayon with its iconic cone shape. But the famous landmark hid behind massive grey clouds which means only one thing. You have to come back to Misibis Bay.

If you're game, Misibis Bay can even arrange Cocktails at 5 Views for your group, and that's one cool way to catch the sunset. Misibis Bay can also arrange activities outside the resort, including Cave Expoloration at Pototan Cave, a Legazpi City Tour, a whole day Bicol Adventure tour, a unique Bicol Underground Tour, and a historic Legazpi Long Ago educational tour. While at the EcoPark, you can also check out the Zipline and Luge Cart. Name it, and Misibis Bay's got it for that ultimate tropical island getaway experience.

Late afternoons at Misibis Bay casts a golden glow on the property, it's magic hour at the Bicol Region's premier tropical island getaway.

The new Pacific View Wing stands prominently at the property's edge, an impressive landmark in itself at the sprawling resort. The flavors, sights and views at Misibis Bay are just some of the many reasons to visit this tropical island resort down south. And a room at the new Pacific View Wing is like cherry on the icing for that perfect escape.
