AirAsia kicks off the official start of summer with its return to Clark Airport offering direct flights to Kalibo, Aklan.

The vibrant festivals and famed white beaches of the south is within easy reach via Clark Airport with AirAsia. Travelers from the north no longer have to drive all the way to Manila to fly to Kalibo, their summer getaway begins right here at Clark Airport in Angeles, Pampanga. This means even more options for travelers heading to their favorite summer destinations. AirAsia launched commercial flights from Clark way back in 2012 before eventually transferring its hub to Metro Manila following a strategic partnership with a local carrier in 2013. Since then, AirAsia has been operating on a much larger scale from Metro Manila and has expanded its domestic and international network with flights from secondary hubs in Cebu and Kalibo. And that's good news for the traveler, with all your favorite destinations within easy reach via AirAsia.

To mark this special milestone, AirAsia hosted a festive send-off ceremony at Clark Airport for both its inaugural passengers and media guests. It was a busy red-letter day for AirAsia at Clark, as passengers and guests were treated to lots of fun surprises.

Philippines Air Asia CEO Captain Dexter Comendador led the airline's team in welcoming each and every guest at Clark, as the departure facilities transformed into a blaze of red, AirAsia's corporate color.

"It feels so good to be back here. Today, we are re-affirming our commitment to make travel more accessible, affordable, and for AirAsia to give only the best quality service that every traveller from Central and Northern Luzon deserves," exclaimed Philippines AirAsia CEO Captain Dexter Comendador, as he welcomed the first passengers on their way to Kalibo from Clark Airport.

Clark International Airport President Alexander Cauguiran welcomed AirAsia's return, and acknowledged AirAsia's trust in Clark. It's a trust reaffirmed by AirAsia's CEO Captain Dexter Comendador during the send-off ceremony at Clark. "AirAsia believes in Clark. We established our base operations here and launched commercial flights in 2012 with only two planes - and now we have a fleet of 14 jets and we are aiming to expand and grow operations here in the next five years," stressed Captain Dexter Comendador. It's the start of even bigger things yet to come, with plans to re-start Clark-Davao at four times weekly starting April 22 including new flights to and from Davao, Palawan, Cebu, and Caticlan/Boracay. And there's more. AirAsia also recently announced expansion plans for Cebu with flights to Davao, Palawan, and Caticlan/Boracay also on April 22. Manila. Clark, or Cebu, AirAsia is there to fly you to your summer getaway.

The first AirAsia aircraft then arrived and landed on time and right on schedule, kicking off regular flights from Clark to Kalibo three times a week.

As the AirAsia jet gently taxied on the runway, loud cheers and a round of applause from the crowds and guests greeted its arrival, followed by streams of water from Clark Airport's fire teams marking another milestone in AirAsia's continuing success story.

Emerging from the mist, the familiar bright red livery of AirAsia's corporate colors marks its indelible stamp on Clark's storied runway...
