Heading Down The Runway for Comforting Local Flavors at Manila Life Cafe

Now you can have more than the usual fastfood fare at the airport, simply head on down the runway to Manila Life Cafe...

Marriott Manila opens Manila Life Cafe at NAIA Terminal 3 serving comfortingly familiar local flavors, just what you need after returning from a long flight or before your next flight out. And you can find it at the end of the runway...

The new Runway Manila is the impressive new bridgeway linking the Resorts World Manila integrated resort and casino complex to NAIA Terminal 3 high above Andrews Avenue. And miles away from the usual heavy vehicular traffic.

Travelers arriving at NAIA Terminal 3 can simply walk across Runway Manila directly to Resorts World Manila. Guests at Resorts World Manila can take the same bridgeway for a direct route to the airport in time for your scheduled flight in air-conditioned comfort. You won't even break a sweat hauling your luggage. The steel and glass structure exudes a modern and contemporary vibe, taking you to the airport or the hotel and back in total comfort.

Golf carts also provide travelers options in case they prefer to zip through Runway Manila instead of walking. Now that's style.

Through the panoramic glass panels lining the full length of Runway Manila, travelers can have a glimpse of the airport and the familiar traffic. It's whole lot more comfortable and quieter up here at Runway Manila.

At the end of Runway Manila, you'll find Manila Life Cafe by Marriott Manila. It's the perfect spot to chill and enjoy a leisurely meal before your flight out. Located at the 4th Level of NAIA Terminal 3, Manila Life Cafe is your private sanctuary away from from the hustle and bustle of the airport crowds. And it's also the perfect spot for a comforting meal of local flavors.

Inside Manila Life Cafe, guests can also check in or check out from Marriott Manila for added convenience and a hassle-free travel experience.

But it's the local inspired cuisine at Manila Life Cafe that will make you wish you could stay just a while longer, with each dish masterfully executed and prepared by the chefs of Marriot Manila using the freshest and finest ingredients (for more on Manila Life Cafe's tasty offerings and signature dishes, see my post on my other food blog at Now Boarding: Marriott Manila Opens Manila Life Cafe at NAIA 3). For local travelers, it's the perfect stop to savor traditional Filipino dishes before or after a trip abroad. For foreign visitors, it's the ideal spot to get acquainted with local flavors. Start with the refreshing Grilled Chicken Inasal Salad (P 280), a hearty bowl of garden fresh greens with chicken inasal for that touch of local flavor.

Or go for the Manila Street Food Platter (P 290), a tasty appetizer with everything you love, including homemade fish balls, crisp chicken fritters, and fried quail eggs served with a variety of dips like sweet soy, spiced vinegar, and sweet and sour sauce. It's one of Manila Life Cafe's many comforting signature dishes that just takes you back in time bringing back fond memories.

Why not have a cold beer and pair it with Manila Life Cafe's Sisig Nachos (P 270), with crisp nachos topped with pork ragout, jalapenos, pickled onions, chicharon, and onion cream. Nachos. Plus Sisig. Game over. It's sisig, what's not to love? And once you start, you can't stop.

A personal favorite of mine is the Crisp Fish Tacos (P 330) with sustainably caught mahi-mahi fillet topped with green mango slaw and garlic sour cream. It's the fusion of local flavors that make this one a personal favorite, with all the different and contrasting notes coming together in a seamless and flavorful blend. Also not to be missed are Manila Life Cafe's signature burgers using the local freshly baked pandesal instead of the usual brioche bun.

Craving for heartier meals? Manila Life Cafe has that covered too. The classic Pork Adobo (P 350) with fork-tender braised pork belly simmered in vinegar and soy sauce topped with egg and laid on steamed white rice is just as good as your mom's homestyle adobo...

...and the Sisig Rice (P 350) with crunchy pork sisig, green chili and egg on rice is a complete meal in itself. The richness of the pork is tempered by the pickled red onions, capped by the perfectly executed sunny side-up.

Cap your meal of local flavors with the indulgent Purple Yam Roll (P 205) to end your feast on a high note. Pair it with a freshly brewed cup of coffee and it just doesn't get better than that.

A satisfying meal and you're just about ready for the next leg of your journey. Whether you're leaving from or returning to Manila, make Manila Life Cafe your first stop. And you'll be glad you did...
