Start with the refreshing Arugula and French Cheese Salad (P 260) with crisp garden-fresh greens, cherry tomatoes and French cream cheese drizzled with a nutty pesto dressing to open up your palate...
...followed by the impressive Seafood Paella (P 490) topped with local fresh river prawns. Masterfully executed, the flavors of the day's freshest catch add an indulgent richness to the dish perfectly finished by the soft and fluffy rice absorbing the various notes of the different ingredients. Just perfect.
Head Chef Lorenzo Vallar adds his own spin to the local sinigang with his Sizzling Corned Beef Sinigang (P 420), a hearty dish with fork-tender beef brisket draped in a thick and tart gravy with garlic confit, cherry tomatoes, onions and crisp French beans. You'll want some extra rice with this one, guaranteed.
The traditional pork adobo is also given a fresh makeover with Head Chef Lorenzo Vallar's Sizzling Crispy Pork Belly Adobo (P 390), a savory dish with slow-roasted pork belly capped by a crisp layer of crackling covered with a thick sauce topped with deep-fried potatoes, garlic, tomato confit and salted egg. The different ingredients combine for rich flavors and textures, so come hungry. It's inventive dishes like these that make Ruben a dining destination in its own right, and another tasty reason to visit Best Western Bendix Hotel in San Fernando.
